Nigerians awoke this morning to the shocking news of the death of Stephen Okechukwu Keshi. His was said to have passed on in the early hours of today after battling with a heart attack in a Benin hospital. The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed the sad incident on his twitter handle.
Stephen Keshi remains the most successful Nigerian-born coach having won the African Cup of Nations title in 2013 as handler of the Super Eagles. He also led the national team to the FIFA World Cup the following year.

Keshi is survived by four children and his grandmother. He lost his wife in December last year.
