Lord of the Track-"Lightning Bolt" strikes a third time, makes history at Rio with a triple-triple

The world's fastest man, Usain Bolt, made history at the Rio Olympics by completing a triple-triple with his latest victory in the 4×100 relay race. Bolt came into the Rio Olympics with the sole objective of being the first sprinter in althletic history to win a gold medal in each of the three events of 100m, 200m and 4×100 relay race in three straight Olympic games: Beijing in 2008, London in 2012 and Rio in 2016. Having successfully completed the first two, the issue then was whether or not the vagaries of a relay race would not get into his way. But that issue has since been put to rest, as the Jamaican relay team proved once more that they still are "Lords of the Track" by successfully completing the relay race.

By this singular event, Bolt makes history as the greatest athlete in living memory to grace the tracks.

Some have called him a 'Giant of History'. To others he was a colossus who bestrode the political landscape of his country. To some others he was an enigma with a larger than life personality, perhaps, descended from the gods themselves. But to me, Lee was simply a leader.

BEYOND NIGERIA’S ECONOMIC TRAVAILS

BY UCHENDU, PATRICK C.

It is no longer news that the Nigerian economy is hurting badly. The signs of the ugly state of things are there for all to see: the slump in global oil prices which has adversely affected the nation’s oil revenues, the pressures on the naira as a result of declining oil prices and depleting external reserves and the consequent hike in the prices of goods and services. They are only a few pointers to the appalling state of the economy. There is no gainsaying the fact, therefore, that the country is entering a dreadful period of economic recession that can fittingly compare with the economic downturn of the 1980s when similar misfortunes plunged the nation’s economy into a comatose state.
