Irate Muslim youths on Thursday in Kano chopped off the head of a woman believed to be from the Igbo speaking part of the country.
The woman, who reportedly sold plastic wares at Kofar Wambai market in Kano, was alleged murdered for blaspheming Prophet Muhammad.
The woman who was said to be in the company of her husband, had according to eye witness accounts, been engaged in conversation with a client when she allegedly made the supposed blasphemous remark.
They (witnesses) said upon hearing the woman’s comments, angry youths around, pounced on her and proceeded to beat her mercilessly after which they lopped off her head with a sharp knife.
Not done, they proceeded on a triumphant march around the village holding the decapitated head of the woman up for all to see.
The woman’s husband, who tried to prevent his wife from being manhandled by the murderous youth, received serious pummeling from the craze young men and was only saved from being murdered like his wife by the arrival of policemen at the market.
The Kano State Police Command through its spokesman, DSP Musa Magaji, has since confirmed the woman’s decapitation and has made no arrests so far.
The woman’s decapitation is coming on the heels of the beheading of a man two weeks ago in Niger State for similar reason and also at a time the Kano State government is challenging the decision of an appeal court, which freed five individuals sentenced to death in 2015 by a Sharia Court for blaspheming the Prophet Muhammad (culled from The Nigerian Times, http://nigeriantimes.ng/).
And these over zealous soldiers fighting for Allah couldnt fight the boko haram terrorizing in the name of Allah?
ReplyDeleteWhat is happening in northern Nigeria makes one feel that those people are living under a different system of laws. Can we truly call states where the Sharia is in place Nigerian states?
ReplyDeleteIt took for hours from the time they took hold of her till the time she died, I expected the Igbo traders there to have gathered and present a formidable front. All Igbos in the North are endangered species, even those in Minna.
ReplyDeleteNigeria has become one big nightmare!
